Privacy Policy

PwC Japan recognizes that the appropriate handling of personal information is its social responsibility. We have adopted the following privacy policy which has been made known to all employees (including temporary staff and hereafter referred to as "all employees"). We will ensure that all practical measures are taken to protect personal information, as well as paying due attention to the handling of such information.

1. Privacy Policy

  1. PwC Japan will comply with applicable laws and other regulations relating to the appropriate handling of your personal information.
  2. PwC Japan will collect personal information appropriately, notify and announce the purpose of use of your personal information and use the information within the scope of such purpose, except as otherwise required by laws and regulations.
  3. PwC Japan will educate all employees so as to understand the importance of personal information and to handle your personal information appropriately.
  4. PwC Japan will make efforts to prevent unauthorized access to your personal information, to protect personal information from loss, falsification and leakage and take appropriate security measures.
  5. PwC Japan will not supply your personal information to third parties without your prior agreement, unless otherwise required by laws and regulations.
  6. When outsourcing the handling of your personal information, PwC Japan will appropriately supervise such party so that your personal information will be securely managed.
  7. PwC Japan will make ongoing efforts to review and improve the management system and measures to protect personal information.

2. Handling of Personal Information

(1) Purpose of Use of Personal Information

  1. Introduction and provision of our services relating to audit & assurance services, advisory & consulting services and tax advisory services.
  2. Providing of information through our publications (including via the email or the Website) and information on sales and subscription of such publications.
  3. Information and administrative matters on seminars and work shops.
  4. Selection at the time of recruitment of all employees and personnel management after being hired.
  5. Social action programs, such as recommendation/statistics/research on services specified in 1. and in response to consultation from public agencies.
  6. Response to your queries.

The above purpose of use will be announced in the privacy policy on our Website. In case personal information is to be received directly from you, the purpose of use will be specified to you in advance.

(2) Shared Use

Personal information collected may be shared and used within the scope of the above purpose of use by member firms of the PricewaterhouseCoopers network, if this is required for conducting our business or for the provision or improvement of global services by the PricewaterhouseCoopers network of firms. Personal information to be shared and used will be as follows. Personal information may be provided to PricewaterhouseCoopers member firms in writing, via email or in electronic form.

  • Name, age, address, telephone number, fax number, email address, workplace, department, job title.
  • Matters relating to inquiries or services to be provided.
  • Matters contributing to the provision or improvement of global services by the member firms of the PricewaterhouseCoopers network.

In accordance with Article 23-2 of the Privacy Protection Law, upon your request PwC Japan will stop the provision of your personal information or data that include such information to PricewaterhouseCoopers member firms.

(3) Implementation of Security Measures

In order to ensure the accuracy and security of personal information, PwC Japan will implement security measures including information security measures to prevent unauthorized access and to protect personal information from loss, destruction, falsification and leakage. PwC Japan will also promptly correct any security measures if it is recognized that an improvement is required.
Furthermore, PwC Japan will establish personal information protection rules and management system based on this policy and make ongoing efforts to review and improve such rules and system.

(4) Organization/Structure

A person responsible for the management of personal data will be appointed to every line of business within PwC Japan to ensure that such information is managed appropriately. Training sessions will be provided to all employees on the protection and appropriate management of personal information for making thoroughly known the appropriate handling of personal information in daily business.

(5) Procedures for Responding to Requests for Disclosing Personal Data in Possession

The procedures for responding to requests to disclose (notification of purpose of use, disclosure, amendment, addition, deletion, cessation of use, elimination, cessation of provision to third parties) personal data possessed by PwC Japan are as follows.

Please note that you will be asked to bear the actual expenses required for such disclosure.

PwC Japan will respond to your comments and inquires on the handling of personal information appropriately.
